Updated: Feb 8, 2022

Disclaimer: My endorsement of the songs below does not mean I fully endorse each artist. The songs listed are those that have stirred my heart to rise up and give thanks to The Lord no matter what the day or night is like.

My Heart Is Filled With Thankfulness - Keith and Kristyn Getty (Hymns For the Christian Life)

My heart is filled with thankfulness to Him who walks beside; Who floods my weaknesses with strength and causes fears to fly; Whose ev’ry promise is enough for ev’ry step I take, sustaining me with arms of love and crowning me with grace. This song preaches to me. Our hearts should be filled with thankfulness to our God who loves us so much and so well.

We Will Feast In the House of Zion - Sandra McCracken (Psalms)

Thanksgiving is a time of feasting on turkey, dressing and pie but one day, we will feast in the house of God. This song is a beautiful reminder of our hope of heaven. We will feast in the house of Zion! We will sing with our hearts restored. He has done great things, we will say together. We will feast and weep no more.

Give Thanks to God - Housefires (We Say Yes)

Sometimes we forget all that God has done. I love the list in this song of all the things we should give God praise and thanks for. He sent His son to die and rise again to save us. His never ending love is steadfast and sure. He's broken our chains and given us freedom...In Him we are alive and have joy everlasting...He casts out all fear...Give thanks to God!

Thank You - Bright City (Hello Maker)

You paid for my sin and covered the cost, traded Your glory; A throne for a cross. A simple "Thank You" isn't enough. Because of Your blood, salvation has come. Think about that for a minute. If you listen to this song, I pray you will find yourself singing along, Jesus we thank You for it all.

Kindness - Chris and Bethany Solyntjies (Refuge)

The Lord is worthy to be praised because of His kindness. This song repeats

You are faithful and true, You make all things new, You move me from death into life. It's Your kindness, it's Your kindness that leads us to repentance. Oh my Jesus!

The Goodness of Jesus - CityAlight (Yet Not I)

This has become one of my favorite songs and favorite artists. I pray that meditating on the goodness, the goodness of Jesus will cause you to thank Him all the more. Satisfied, He is all that I need. May it be, come what may, that I rest all my days in the goodness of Jesus.

Grateful for His Love - Ellie Holcomb (Magnolia)

We forget to thank Jesus because we forget about His love. If the cross was at the forefront of our minds all day, every day, we would be more grateful people. This song by Ellie Holcomb is a beautiful declaration of our redemption through Jesus' love. You chase the sin to the dark ends. We are grateful, we are grateful... Nothing we'll ever do was too much for You to handle, oh Christ, we're grateful for Your love!

If It Had Not Been - The Hedgerow Folk (Come Close)

I was introduced to The Hedgerow Folk earlier this year. Their style is a unique blend of bluegrass and folk and their lyrics are wonderful. This song sings, If it had not been the Lord on our side, we'd be caught in the wake of our own sin. The waters cannot overwhelm us now for our God holds the seas in His strong right hand. What a mighty God!

Thank You - Josh Gauton (O, Peace)

Have you ever been speechless before the throne? This song has summed up my feelings with lyrics like, When my words run out let my spirit sing, Thank You, thank You! For the debt You paid on that borrowed cross where You died instead of me; for this life reborn and the one to come, I thank You! Hallelujah.

Good To Me - Audrey Assad (Fortunate Fall)

Even in your pain and your deepest of griefs, can you still say that God has been good to you? It's easy to put on our religiosity and say, but it is much harder to genuinely live out. I have loved this song by Audrey Assad for years. May we always look up and say, I put all my hope on the truth of Your promise, and I steady my heart on the ground of Your goodness... You are good to me.

Jesus, Thank You - Sovereign Grace Music (30: Three Decades of Songs For The Church)

Your blood has washed away my sin, Jesus, thank You. The Father's wrath completely satisfied, Jesus, thank You. Once Your enemy, now seated at Your table, Jesus, thank You. I love this song. Even if everything in life is going wrong, if you are redeemed, you have much to be thankful for.

10,000 Reasons (Bless The Lord) - Matt Redman (Live)

As one of the most popular worship songs of our decade, 10,000 Reasons beautifully reminds us that we have 10,000+ reasons to praise our great God. Your name is great and Your heart is kind. For all Your goodness I will keep on singing! - Ten thousand reasons for my heart to find.

Thanks Be to Our God - Travis Cottrell (When The Stars Burn Down)

As a climactic ending, Travis Cottrell's "Thanks Be To Our God" is definitely a song that inspires thankfulness and praise. The lyrics are powerful! As an old preacher friend once said, "If this song doesn't light your fire, your wood is wet."

For the road that leads from darkness into light For the hope that rescues us from endless night For the grace that covers sin at the door where life begins For salvation reaching in to guide us through, thanks be to our God!

For the healing that no mortal can explain For deliverance that breaks the sinner's chains For the strength to carry on and forgiveness great and strong And the promise of Your mercies ever new, thanks be to our God!

For the emptiness that cries out to be filled For the promise that Your word is deeper still For the longing and the need to have more of You in me Because nothing satisfies the way You do, thanks be to our God!

For the mysterious beyond the veil of death For the peace that opens with our closing breath When our struggles pass away and we finally see Your face And a greater glory rises into view, thanks be to our God!

Hallelujah, everlasting songs will rise! For all You've done, Hallelujah, Hallelujah!
